How can travelers take better landscape photos?
The most types of photography taken by travelers are landscapes! Simply
because we travel to see that grand waterfall, nice desert hot sands,
clear cost beach, green forest or blue sky...etc.
Landscapes are hard to capture, because they are wide and you see large
view by your eyes, your brain can focus on the most beautiful elements –
and Therein lies the beauty of the human mind! But your camera
doesn’t!
In this article, we will focus on the most important things you should do to take better landscapes as following:
1- Take your time: when you visit new places you may notes interesting
things at once, but to take good photos you should spend more time to
look for the best angles, good lighting situation, where the shadow
falls and what are the most beautiful things in that escape.
2- Light: light is an important element in the composition of the
picture, it gives a sense to the image, light tells the viewer whether
the time sunset, sunrise, mid-day or whatever.
3- What the picture say? A picture may worth 1000 words! Decide what
you want to tell the viewer? Do you want to feel lonely and isolated in a
dark forest? Or strongly feel the heat in the desert? This is the style
of your image, pick up the ideal time and kits to make your story, such
as mid-day to photograph the mirage in the desert to let the viewer
feel the hot.
4- Specific component: landscapes have many elements, this could
distract the viewer, to avoid this thing, focus on a specific element,
for example the movement of the waterfall or path in forest, shade on
canyon and so on.
5- Kits: choose the right camera kit to add some affects to your photos like filters and wide-angle lenses.
