Socotra, The Island of Dragon's Blood Tree



Socotra (The Island of the Dragon's Blood Tree) is an amazing and unique island in the Indian Ocean South of Yemen. This rare island contains many rare plants, trees, insects, reptiles, birds and animals; many of the creatures in the island of Socotra cannot be found anywhere on earth except Socotra!
The island has become an interesting destination for its calm beaches, amazing landscapes, unique lifestyle, and the rare plants and animals.

Beaches of Socotra are amazing, they are calm and clear, and you can relax in its soft sand or swim in the warm water. The most famous beaches that are perfect for swimming and diving are Detwah, De Hamry and Ras Shuab.
There are too many valleys, hills and mountains, forests and caves spread over the island of Socotra, which all provide a wonderful environment for hiking.
The highlands of Dexam are the most famous mountains on the island, it is just a few kilometers away from Hadibu; it is famous for its forests of the Dragon's Blood Tree which is the most famous tree on the island. 
Dexam highlands are amazing, there you can enjoy an unforgettable hiking between the Dragon's Blood Trees, palm trees and clouds!
The most famous tree on the island of Socotra is the dragon blood tree, or the brother’s blood tree. It is a rare tree looks like an umbrella.
Dragon Tree
People of Socotra have been using the resin of this tree for treatment, and paint utensils made ​​of clay, gluing pottery, a breath freshener, lipstick and finally in ritual magic. The root is used in rheumatism, as a stimulant, astringent and in toothpaste, as well.
The Egyptian Vulture is the most famous bird on the island, it is widely spread over the island. Egyptian Vultures roost communally on large trees, buildings or on cliffs. Roost sites are usually chosen close to a dump site or other suitable foraging area.

Socotra Island Part1 The Land Of Rare Plants

Discovering new worlds is nice, but discovering rare and strange places is great! if you looking to have this feeling -just like me- then you should travel to Socotra island - Yemen, it is one of the few rare and strange places in the world, where you can find things only in Socotra - like the plant in the photo to the left-  not any other place in the world! This plant grows in rocks , it has a strange shape , the islanders use its leaves   as  treatment for some  diseases.  غالباً، إن لم يكن دائماً، ما يُطلب من الاعلام والصحفيين الالتزام بمبدأ الحياد، أي عدم الميل إلى أي طرف من اطراف الخصومة. حسناً، لنكن صريحين بهذا الشأن، إن الحياد مهم جداً لتحقيق المصداقية، لكنه ليس مبدأ أساسي يجب التمسك به دائماً وأبداً؛ فالصحافة مهمتها إظهار الحقيقة، وانصاف المظلوم، وإيصال صوت من لا صوت له. تمثل الصراعات اليوم مادة أساسية لعمل الصحافة، قد يكون من السهل الوقوف على الحياد عندما لا تكون طرفاً في الصراع، أو عندما لا تكون جزءً أو تابعاً، بأي شكل من الأشكال ، لأحد أطراف الصراع. أما عندما يكون العكس فإن الحياد يصبح مستحيلا، ومع ذلك فهذه ليست القصة الكاملة! المصيبة الأكبر هي عندما تكون الطرف المظلوم، المضطهد، أو المغلوب على أمره.   إن الحياد في حالات الظلم هو انحياز لجانب الظالم، كما يقول ديزموند توتو، الحائز على جائزة نوبل للسلام؛ ذلك لأن الحياد يساعد الظالم وليس الضحية. السكوت عن المظالم عار يورث البغضاء؛ لذلك تأتي الصحافة لتقف إلى جانب أولئك الذين لا يمتلكون السلطة أو لا يستطيعون نزع حقوقهم. لكن الانحياز والانصاف لا يعني بأي شكل من الأشكال التدليس، أو التضلي...
